Do You Need Writing Services?

My Writing Services Now Available

Novel writing is a huge task. Which is why you may decide you need writing services that complement or strengthen the work you've done.

Why would a writer need the services of another writer?

Because we all have our strengths and weaknesses, when it comes to our writing. We need help shoring up the areas we aren't good at. Beyond that, we love the words we've penned too much to be as objective as an outsider can be.

To address this, you may want to consider any or all of the following assistance for your novel writing.

If Your Fiction Lacks Fire

Completing a novel takes a lot of time and hard work. Not everyone feels they can polish their work to the best possible form without input from someone else. I know I certainly need at least one more pair of eyes and a second mind to see where I've gone wrong in my novels.

So the first of the writing services you might consider using is fiction writing help . For plots that just don't add up, or characters who won't behave, engaging someone else who isn't as close to the process as you are will help you create some distance and thus, some objectivity.

Sometimes, all it takes is a sympathetic reader: someone who likes the style of book you're writing who will read it and tell you which parts
don't work.

But sometimes, you need a pro. Yes, it may cost you a bit of money up front, but in the long run, it's worth it, because your book will sell much better if you make it read better.

Supplementing Your Fiction

Many novelists, especially early in their careers, must supplement their income by other means. For some, that means writing non-fiction titles as well as fiction. If you have knowledge but not the know-how to put it down coherently, you can employ writing services to get help writing a book like that, and still make money on the deal.

You may only need help outlining and choosing chapters. Or maybe you'd rather hand the entire thing off to someone else, providing only the research. In that case, you can hire a ghostwriting service. A ghostwriter will write the book and let you take all the credit. Most often, they are paid an upfront fee, and you get to keep all earnings after that.

In either case, don't rule out non-fiction as a way to add income to your writing life.

Polishing to a Sheen

Perhaps it's the rewriting that's got you boggled. So many things to think about when you edit! You can hire help for this, too. Like writing services, editing services will do a variety of things to help you get your manuscript in shape to publish.

Some services offer a manuscript critique , usually for a fee. It may involve only a few pages, or it may involve the entire manuscript. Only you can decide how much help you need. If they only tell you what's wrong and not how to fix it, though, it's not much of a service to you. So look for someone who'll teach you how to find and repair those aspects you need help with.

This is one area I recommend you do get help with. Even if you plan to self publish. You do not want to print an inferior book do you? With typos and grammatical errors? Then don't skip the editing process!

A Little Hand Holding

One final option of writing services: a writing mentor .

Now you may luck out and find an author you admire who has the time and willingness to mentor you without charge. If so, jump on the chance.

But keep in mind you should not bombard this generous soul with constant questions and requests for help. You'll lose your mentor quickly, if you do. Keep an open mind and a balanced relationship, and you'll both win.

And if you can't find a mentor who has the time and desire to help for free, it's alright to pay for a mentor's time. After all, they're offering a service
to you, and they should get compensated for their knowledge and aid if
they ask.

No matter what kind of writing you do, consider getting help to make it the best writing you can. You'll never be sorry you improved your writing!
